Riley was the most amazing gift of a dog. He had a scary beginning in life, and yet was the most loving, gentle dog. Riley was shot when he was a puppy, and had the buck shot scattered throughout his body as proof of the rough puppyhood he had endured. I am so blessed to have had this little black angel enter my life. He was so smart– excelled at obedience, even agility! He was almost part human, as I could show him just once what I wanted from him, and he’d take it in and it was like he understood what I told him. He was an excellent swimmer, and a great friend to my Gretta also. He would “woof” in his sleep, and followed me like a shadow. He was unbelievably loyal to me, and with his kind and understanding eyes helped me through some hard times as well. He had this smile, and loved going for a run! He was a great listener, as I taught him so many things while going through nursing school! The time that I had him was much too short, we had so many more walks and hikes to do, so many more trips to the dog park to look forward to and so many more years to enjoy together. His absence is felt each day, and I cherish the time I got to share with him. I love you Riley, and miss you dearly.
